Project

Pernod Ricard Winery

Project overview

Project requirements

Pernod Ricard was in the process of installing a new production line at their plant, which required a wastewater holding tank to accommodate increased production volumes.

Challenge

The designing engineer investigated several options, but the proposed systems were typical cylindrical precast concrete units, which presented significant challenges, such as:

  • Deep excavation requirements – The installation would undermine nearby existing buildings and infrastructure.
  • Limited installation locations – Due to site constraints, finding a suitable location was difficult.
  • Tight access issues – The selected site had a building on one side, power lines on the other, and a narrow roadway in between.

Solution

After further investigations, the designing engineer contacted Access Tanks. We developed a solution using our DN1600 Modifiable Volume Tank.

Following further discussions with the designing engineer, it was discovered that the production facility’s washdown procedure involved the use of specific chemicals that would enter the DN1600 tank. With our unique ability to custom-build the tank to site-specific requirements and our close relationship with composite supplier Allnex Composites, we guaranteed a fit-for-purpose, chemically resistant tank with a long-life expectancy.

Why a DN1600 Modifiable Volume Tank

  • Enabled a long, shallow, and safe excavation, preventing risks to surrounding structures.
  • Provided the required 27kL capacity without the need for deep digging.
  • Chemically resistant construction, ensuring durability in a demanding industrial environment.
  • Easy installation – The tank was walked into place using a Franna Crane.

Project implementation

The project was a notable success due to the seamless communication between the designing engineer, installing contractor, transport provider, and our exceptional team.
