Project requirements
Established in 1908, the historic Loxton Hotel, which is proudly owned by the community of Loxton, identified some shortcomings with their existing wastewater management system after completing some recent developments.
With concerns their wastewater system wasn’t performing, the time was right to have a major upgrade to their wastewater system.
Solution
Access Tanks was selected by the designing engineer to manufacture the tank for this project. Our unique ability to custom build the tank to the engineered site-specific requirements made us the preferred choice for this project.
The treatment system selected by the designing engineer was a 51.4kL 5-Chamber Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR). This provided higher quality primary treatment to be discharged to the Community Wastewater Management System (CWMS), operated by the District Council of Loxton Waikerie.

Why an Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR)?
ABR’s provide very robust treatment for challenging wastewater management systems, and are advantageous where tight site constraints apply.
They have the ability to accommodate variable flows, due to the buffering and attenuation of flows provided by the longer detention time created by the multiple baffles and flow path inside the tank.
ABR’s also provide a higher level of BOD & TSS removal than a conventional septic tank, due to the improved hydraulic efficiency of the baffled flow path (better settling of solids), the increased contact time with the active biomass to degrade organic matter, and more effective anaerobic digestion of sludge.
Project implementation
The project was a resounding success due to the seamless communication between the designing engineer, installing contractor, transport provider, and our dedicated team.
